Keep Canberra’s local deliveries moving.

As our Truck Driver / Yard Assistant, you’ll be the face of our co-op on active building sites; operating our crane trucks (HIAB), delivering trade packages safely, and supporting our Fyshwick yard operations. Enjoy steady local routes, high-quality equipment, and zero weekend work.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a practical, reliable Truck Driver / Yard Assistant to join our team in Fyshwick.

This dual-purpose role balances local site deliveries using vehicle-mounted loading cranes (HIAB/VLC) with hands-on yard and warehouse support. You will safely offload timber and building supplies directly to builder trade sites across the ACT region while ensuring our Fyshwick yard operates cleanly, safely, and efficiently.

You will work closely with the Yard Supervisor, Dispatch Team, and local builders to maintain accurate inventory, operate loading cranes and forklifts, and uphold strict safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform safe, timely deliveries of building materials to trade sites across the ACT region using vehicle-mounted loading cranes.

  • Load and unload transport vehicles using forklifts, HIAB/crane equipment, and proper manual handling techniques.

  • Perform pre-start vehicle and crane equipment checks, maintaining accurate logbooks and reporting faults.

  • Receive, inspect, store, and dispatch incoming timber and building supplies.

  • Maintain an organised, clean, and safe yard environment adhering to WHS standards.

  • Pick trade customer orders accurately against picking slips.

What You’ll Bring

  • Valid MR or HR Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence with a clean driving record.

  • Current Vehicle Loading Crane (CV) High-Risk Work Licence / HIAB certification.

  • Current High-Risk Forklift Licence (LF).

  • Proven experience operating vehicle loading cranes on active delivery sites.

  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety (WHS) and load restraint protocols.

  • Experience in construction, building materials, or trade hardware (highly regarded).

Why Join the Co-op?

  • Competitive hourly rate / salary package + Super.

  • Regular day shifts / Monday to Friday hours (no weekend trade).

  • Modern, well-maintained truck fleet equipped with loading cranes.

  • Stable, member-owned organisation supporting the local ACT building community.
